Welcome to Convention from Convention Director Missy Pask!

Welcome to the Phoenix, Arizona, also known to locals as the Valley of the Sun! This sunny spot in the desert is your destination for the 59th biennial Chi Omega Convention. Chi Omega Convention is the official business meeting of the Fraternity and it is held every two years. We invite representatives from our 174 collegiate chapters and our 242 alumnae chapters to attend and take part in leadership training and to join in the celebration of Chi Omega’s accomplishments during the last biennium.

The theme of this Convention is Inviting Sisters Since 1895. There will be many invitations this week for you to escape the soaring temperatures outside and to connect inside with your Sisters. In addition to the recruitment and leadership workshops you will attend, here are just a few highlights of what’s ahead this week:
  • At our Opening Dinner tonight, we will kick off Convention, Chi Omega style, with a southwestern twist.
  • On Thursday morning we will begin the day with our traditional Parade of Chapters at our first business meeting. You will be filled with pride as you listen to our G.H.s share the many accomplishments of their chapters. Then be prepared to be motivated as our Ann Lee Konneker Keynote Speaker, Cindy Chiang Halvorsen, shares the journey of her “Amazing Race.”
  • At the Woman of Achievement dinner on Thursday evening, three outstanding Chi Omegas will be honored. You will be inspired as they describe how Chi Omega has had an impact on their lives and their careers.
  • Chi Omega is fun, right? Get ready for lots of laughs at our night of Revelry. There will be skits, songs, and even a dance party afterwards. You sure don’t want to miss this fun evening with your Sisters!
  • Saturday evening is the culmination of Convention. We will honor Jean Mermoud Mrasek, our past S.H., with the President’s Award, the highest award given by the Fraternity. The traditional Governing Council Serenade will follow the banquet that evening.
This week I invite you to reach out to your Sisters and share your stories and your love of Chi Omega with one another. Think about that first invitation that you received from Chi Omega and how you felt. It is this unique and special bond of Sisterhood that has brought us all together in Phoenix. As leaders, you are the ones who inspire our members to make a difference and to be their best so that together we can continue to make Chi Omega the premier women’s organization that it is today! May the memories you make this week last a lifetime!
